Society is always going to be that dichotomy of social energies pushing out, as cultural and civil forms and structures coalesce in. Liberal and conservative.

Basically the heart and the head. The anarchies of desire, versus the tyrannies of judgement.

Given the United States has pretty much only known growth, our culture is largely centered around economic progress, distilled to the bottom line, to the degree we've been borrowing from the future for the last several decades, to sustain this religion.

Unfortunately we don't have several thousand years of cultural evolution to hold the country together, when that future does arrive.

This country is not Democrats and Republicans, it's the dollar and when that eventually melts down, given the local banking ecosystem has been largely subsumed into the money center casinos, the only institutions left to issue some form of replacement medium of exchange will be the state governments.

The break up of the Soviet Union will look like a picnic, in comparison.
