What if there is something wrong with the assumptions on which this scenario is based? Given human psychology, once an idea takes hold it takes more than simple logic to dislodge it.
Let me give it a try and see what the response is;
As these mobile creatures with a sequential process of perception, as a function of navigating our environment, then as members of a narrative based culture, we naturally think of time as the point of the present moving past to future, which physics has codified as measures of duration and then correlated with measures of distance to come up with spacetime.
Yet the simple, physical reality is that change turns future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns, relative to the sun. Potential, actual, residual.
There is no literal dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it, aka, causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.
Different clocks can run at different rates simply because they are separate actions. Think metabolism. The fact that much of history has been about getting everyone on the same page, following the same story, playing by the same rules, using the same measures, it might seem there should be some universal, Newtonian passage of time, so we are surprised by the notion there is not, but there is rabbit time, turtle time, tree time, earth time, etc. When everyone is playing the same game, for the same ends, it becomes a race and everyone is on rabbit time, but the turtle is still plodding along, long after the rabbit has died.
Time is asymmetric, because it is a measure of particular actions and action is inertial. The earth only turns one direction. Entropy is a second order effect and is not what is measured.
Time is an effect, like temperature, pressure, color, sound. Think frequencies and amplitudes. Ideal gas laws correlate volume with temperature and pressure, but we don’t call them the 5th and 6th dimensions of space, because they are only foundational to our emotions, bodily functions and environment, not the sequence of thought.
The “conserved” energy, as process, goes past to future, while the patterns generated go future to past. As consciousness goes past to future, while thoughts and feelings go future to past. Or lives go birth to death, while life moves onto the next generation, shedding the old. As products go start to finish, while the production line goes the other way, consuming material and expelling product.
Energy drives the wave, while frequency and amplitude are the information expressed by its undulating form.
We have the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy driving us on, while the central nervous system sorts through the forms precipitating out. Hence the intellectual bias for information over energy, but the banks and energy companies run society, not the universities.
Heck, even galaxies are energy radiating towards infinity, while the forms coalesce toward equilibrium. Opposing entropic directions.
What if the forms of quanta are more like frequency and amplitude, than the underlaying energy? Might resolve some slippery issues.
So if you want to just ignore this and continue off into the multiverse, remember that epicycles were brilliant math, as a description of our view of the cosmos. Far more accurate than early heliocentric models, because we can’t see from the point of view of the sun. Yet the crystalline spheres, as explanation, were lousy physics, because it was a biased point of view.
Having made this argument enough, I realize I’m banging my head on the wall, as the sociology of belief is not deterred by logic, but just trying to shine a little light into the void.
