What is time?
As mobile organisms, this sentient interface our body has with its situation functions as a sequence of perceptions, in order to navigate, so our sense of time is the present moving past to future.
It is the basis of culture and civilization, as narrative and history.
Human knowledge is this cumulative process of each generation building on the prior generations, so it is based on this temporal flow.
Yet the simple fact is that activity and the resulting change turns future to past.
Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.
There is no dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.
A tapestry being woven from strands being pulled from what was woven.
Energy is conserved, because it manifests this presence, creating time, temperature, pressure, color and sound, as frequencies and amplitudes, rates and degrees.
So this presence goes past to future, because the patterns generated come and go, future to past.
Energy drives the wave, the fluctuations rise and fall.
Given consciousness also goes past to future, while the perceptions, emotions and thoughts giving it form and structure go future to past, it would seem consciousness manifests as a form of energy.
Though it is the digestive system processing the energy and feeding the flame, while the nervous system sorts through the patterns.
So there is this intellectual focus on the patterns being projected, from theology to math, than the dynamic generating them.
Yet it is like trying to explain why the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, from the god of Apollo to the math of epicycles, before knowing the earth is turning west to east.
Galaxies are energy radiating out, as structure coalesces in.
What if it is all feedback, between the centripetal synchronization and the radiant harmonization?
Organisms and ecosystems.
Particles and fields.
That the properties our tactile, object oriented senses regard as matter are just intermediate effects?
That the music is more real than the matter.
