What rough beast this way comes?

Simply, the future.

This hurricane of Western dominance and technological evolution has not produced any equivalent social evolution.

Not only has the old tribalism been used to divide and conquer, but its old animating function of providing an organic community has been hollowed out to provide profits. Now, even education and healthcare are primarily extortion rackets, with their core function becoming secondary.

That the whole edifice is on fire and contains a lot of flammable material makes its demise inevitable.

So the only real question, is, how deep does the reset go and what valuable lessons are to be learned.

Under the tribalism running rampant in the Middle East, it is the dissolution of any value into monetary profit that is the real necrotic dynamic and it seems likely it will be that implosion of illusionary wealth, debt that is junk, which will be the iceberg this ship hits, not how many people die in the process.
