Whatever the sides, the divide and conquer has been fairly effective at keeping attention away from the plutocrats. That the media emphasizes it is a lot of it, but from personal experience, there are a lot of not terribly informed people out there on whom it is working quite well.

That they are currently being so over the top about it is actually a good thing. The future is a continuation of the past, until it becomes a reaction to it. The house of cards is tumbling and the divide and conquer has settled on two undesirables.
