When I was young, other's pain would cause me pain. After some significant introspection I came to realize that so often the immediate solutions were just patches over much deeper issues. Bandaids over bullet wounds

Right now the problems between Israel and Palestine go to the core of Western civilization and this fight is the eye of a much bigger storm.

Consequently focusing on the immediate political intractabilities will not solve anything, only create larger problems.

In a nutshell, reality and people are a balance, between the centripetal and centrifugal forces, be it the energies of youth, versus the lessons of age, the dynamics of liberalism, versus the structure of conservatism, etc. More yin and yang, than God Almighty.

Consider that democracy and republicanism originated in pantheistic cultures, while Ancient Israel was a monarchy. The Big Guy Rules. Like the religion. When Rome adopted Christianity as the state religion, it was for the monotheism, to validate the Empire rising from the ashes of the Republic. The Big Guy Rules.

The logical fallacy of modern monotheism, not just the tribal god variety, is that ideals are not absolutes.

Truth, beauty, platonic forms are ideals. The core codes, creeds, heroes, narratives as the center of every society are ideals. Without which they would dissipate. Go Tower of Babel.

Yet the universal is the elemental. A spiritual absolute would be the essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which we fell. The light shining through the film, than the narratives played out on it.

So Israel, for a series of conceptual and historical factors, is swirling into a maelstrom. The centripetal factors have overwhelmed the centrifugal factors.

At the rate things are going and the lack of any circuit breakers to the feedback loops going parabolic, "from the river to the sea" could well end up as one of the radioactive craters littering the planet for the next few hundred years.

That's why I think that much deeper discussion is warranted.
