Without the ups and downs, it's a flatline, so the price we pay to feel, is that much of it is pain. Do we do away with life, if it involves pain?

People are linear and goal oriented, while nature is cyclical, reciprocal and feedback generated. Now that we've reached the edge of the global petri dish, it's time to turn around and recognize that circularity. The world really is round. Slow down and let it catch up a bit. The turtle is still plodding along, long after the rabbit has died.

Good and bad are not some cosmic conflict between the forces of righteousness and evil, but the basic biological binary of beneficial and detrimental. Even bacteria understand that. All our higher order contructs; respect, responsiblity, trust, honor, empathy, love, as well as the negatives, are complex evolutions of the process, like a computer program can be created out of 1/0. So when we treat good as an ideal, rather than elemental, conflicts do become a race to the bottom, of us versus them, good versus bad. Rather than opportunties to evolve further.
