Wouldn’t want them to change their stripes this late in the game. Remember Dark Energy?
To review, the rate of redshift increases with distance in all directions and since it was assumed the cause was the initial event, it was predicted this rate decreased at a steady rate, due to gravity and time, but what was observed was the rate dropped off rapidly and then flattened out. To use a ballistics analogy, it was as if the universe were shot out of a cannon, but after it slowed, a jet motor kicked in, to sustain a steady rate. Though somehow it’s been mangled to say the universe is ‘speeding up.’ Hard to speed up when the initial event presumably left the universe expanding at close to the speed of light.
So we are to believe that 70% of the contents of the universe is this dark energy, that is only apparent in the gap between prediction and observation! What happened to the principle of Falsification? How can any theory be disproved, if they can add anything they wished?
If redshift is due to being an optical effect(we are at the center of our point of view), then it would be a compounding effect, causing the rate to go parabolic, until it appears to reach the speed of light and everything is shifted off the visible spectrum and into that black body cosmic background radiation.
