Religion is good soul food, especially in tough times, but it makes a poor reality check.

The core of religions are like the childhood memories of culture. They might be the grain of sand around which the pearl of the culture forms, but when lots of people are getting killed for those beliefs, it makes it necessary to ask serious questions about those beliefs.
