You do make a thorough case for why the current regime is well and truly fucked, and whether it tries to blow up the world on its way out, or just crumbles first, the big question will shortly be, what comes next?

To the Ancients, monotheism basically meant monoculture. One people, one rule, one god.

Rome adopted a monotheistic sect as state religion around the time the Empire was rising from the ashes of the Republic. The Big Guy rules.

When the West went back to more populist forms of government, it required the separation of church and state, essentially culture and civics. Which is seriously sociologically schizophrenic.

When the fear of god, as the ultimate moral arbiter, died, all that was left was that Nietzschean Will to Power and those most adept at that are the amoral assholes who lie, cheat and steal as a matter of principle. So you might say, the problems run a lot deeper than the fact we are bankrupt and delusional.
